windmap_navi

Here’s a new map for the seasoned sailor. It has less information than the normal maps, but wind directions, sea speeds (darker seas are faster) and sea borders. All you need for GVONavi. It is valid for japanese server, so please beware not all ports are in GAMA server yet. If you run into a sea border and wonder why you can’t sail further – that’s why. Good thing about it though is you don’t have to upgrade your map for a while!

Update 13 October: the South Atlantic speed up is now displayed correctly.

Ok almost done, now i will show how to add skill using OSP(Original Ship Permit) OSPs are obtained by exchanging 200 Patriot Awards at your nation secretary at palace, Patriot Awards (PAs) can be obtained by completing Imperial quests, by developing frontier towns (Ambon, Lima, Ternate, Pernambuco, Grand Cayman, Willemstad, Caracas, Trujillo, Cayenne), by fighting on battle campaing and ganhador, or by taking part on epic investment battles. You can check what skills can be added that way by going to your nation major town and clicking the following button:

Ok, thats it for normal build….now let’s go to the next step…..FS build….FS stands for Free Style shipbuilding, it’s how we call building a ship using ship parts, there are big advantages to make a ship this way, the ship will receive bonus to its status according to the parts you used, also by using a certain combination of parts for each ship you can get a ship skill into your ship (altough for the ship skills to take effect you will need to have Navigation/Management/Arms skills at certain ranks, but that can be subject to a different guide)….well images will show it better….stay focused….
here is the button for FS build and ship improving, to be abble to use it you have to invest on the town, or else a message saying you dont have enough investment on the town will pop up, or the ship you wanting to FS build will not show up …

Hi all, i will try to post here a basic guide about how to build, improve and add skills to ships, as many arent very familiar on how it works and since this basic knowledge is needed not only to build the ship yourself but also to order the ship the way you want to a shipbuilder………..
Ok, first things first, there are two ways of building a ship, one is called normal building and the other is called FS building where you will build the ship using ship parts, some ships can be only made by FS building. Next i will explain how normal building Works…..

First that is the button to click to normal build the ship, each port has different ship options and materials to choose from.

custom seeadler

Here’s a ship you don’t see too often. A Custom Seeadler. Taking screenshot of ships can be inspiring. Not that I think I will ever own one of these, they seem pretty rare.

navalactionship

There might actually be one. I just learned about this game: Naval Action

Still under development, at least they get one thing right. The ships and the sea. A bit better looking than our favourite KOEI game, right? Now they just have to match its diversity, complexity and longevity and we have a winner! I am so going to keep an eye on this one. They have forums about the development here.

lionofnorth_desktop

Here are two new maps for Lion of the North patch (2nd Age Chapter 4). I made one for desktop use with Europe in the middle, and another version cut up for use together with the GVONavi GPS program. These maps are complete with coordinate grid, correct wind directions for both seasons and names of all the seas.

… you don’t just see a beautiful old Volvo in this picture.

granatlas3

I have not updated my maps or this blog for a long time. Now with the latest patch on GAMA server, people are complaining that ports are missing. Well I agree. So here is a somewhat future proof map that is valid all the way up to Gran Atlas chapter 3, the latest patch in Japan. It has all the ports we won’t see for a long time in GAMA.

If you download this map, please be aware that you can’t yet sail north of Russia, north of Canada, to the west coast of the USA, nor enter the ports of St. Petersburg or Port Royale. But someday you will be able to. And that day you will be ready.

This first release is a preview map. It does not have any grid lines. It does not show wind direction. But it does work, it has all the ports, seas and landings you will ever visit in a very long time. It shows sea borders and it works with GVONavi. It’s all an experienced sailor needs. Enjoy!

Did you ever wonder what the MTC logo I put in my maps is about? That’s my company, the Mediterranean Trade Company. Based in Lisbon it is one of the oldest on GAMA server, and it has survived a lot. MTC started on the first day of the server and there was once 3, or was it 4 different divisions.

The surviving one is actually number 2, but to keep the logo clean, and to honor the company I first joined, I omit the number in the logo. In spirit that’s where I still am.

If you want to join an adult, friendly bunch of survivors with lots of knowledge about the game, feel free to check us out in Lisbon. We accept new players.
